Oh this is good. I mean this is real good. St. Paul & The Broken Bones. If you like Otis Redding, you're in luck. If you like Alabama Shakes, you're even more in luck. St. Paul & The Broken Bones are fucking awesome.

There, I said it. Their sound is full of life and completely raw. It's imperfectly perfect with soul and expression oozing out of their music. But seriously, it's like combining Alabama Shakes and Otis Redding into one incredibly accessible blues/rock/soul album. These guys emerged onto the music scene in 2012, and were picked up by a record label owned in part by John Paul White of the now non-existant Civil Wars. Hailing from Alabama, St. Paul & The Broken Bones are currently on a massive tour, so you might get a chance to see them close to you.

But really - from simple tracks like "Call Me", that are sparse and remind me of 50s/60s tunes, to the grungy "That Glow", which makes me think of the Brian Burton and Norah Jones release of Rome, this debut full-length album from St. Paul & The Broken Bones is worth a listen. While the sound is similar throughout the entire recording, it's still captivating and a solid album that you will be happy to add to your collection.
